U W Clemon

U. W. Clemon is a former U.S. District Judge and—Alabama’s first black district judge—who was a civil rights attorney during the late 1960s and 1970s and also a leading activist while he was a student at Miles College in the early 1960s; he was called an “outside agitator” by Bull Connor because he was the voice of the Miles students who participated in the selective buying campaign in Birmingham in 1962.
